Beyond Blogging

I have had so much going on lately, I have not had much time to blog. Also , I just have not had a lot to say lately. Between Son being home and work and summer yard work...time is tight. You notice that 3 months ago, I couldn't wait to "garden". Now I refer to it as yard work. By August I don't even want to look outside; I pine away for winter. To pass the down time I thought I would post a few before and afters. These are of my yard and house and show the changes that have been made over the last year. Todays is the back right corner of my yard. Some of you may not be able to tell them apart...so I labeled them for you!!

Before.......

After......

I LOVE that picture of the daisies!! And WOW! You've done an awesome job with your back yard...it really looks great!!

I know exactly what you mean about stepping back from a situation and picking your battles...I could really blog about this story, bc it's a doozy...but basically...I was kicked out and have been unsupported by my family for the last two years because of my relationship with Alex. When we first started dating, a little over three years ago, my step-dad (who's basically raised me and been a dad to me) stopped talking to me for a little over a year because I didn't ask permission to date..at 19. He's an alcoholic and we had been having difficulties getting along throughout high school to begin with. The reason we semi started talking again, was because he had an accident one night and fell and pretty much broke his neck and was 1/4 of an inch from being a quadrapalegic. After I got my A.S. I moved back home for the summer, but I was only there for a little over a week because we got into a fight over having a picture of me and Alex in my room. He threw it down, broke it, we exchanged hurtful words and I was kicked out. My mom allowed him to do it. That was pretty hard to accept, because I felt like she chose him over me. But basically I just feel that I have learned thru the fighting I witnessed growing up that it's not worth it to fight over everything, or to say things you don't mean. It seemed like in my family, everyone thrived off having the last word. And seeing how hateful you could be while doing it. I've gotten over that, and I just hope I can continue to take what I've experienced and turn it into lessons learned to better my own life. One thing that's really hard for Alex is accepting his parents divorce. They were married over 19 years, and one day he woke up and it was over. I think he's just fighting those emotions, but I don't plan on giving up on him. I think we really do have the opportunity to take what we've both experienced and grow from it and learn and make better choices than those before us, especially when it comes to getting married/having a family, etc.

I grew up with a cocker spaniel, and they have always been my favorite breed!! But if all Westies are like my baby, I think you'd be really happy with one! I've been really amazed at how many other Westie owners we meet, and everyone just raves on how awesome they are. They have incredible personalities and are very smart! I've even talked about down the road getting a female so we can breed them. They are just great!!

Whew, I didn't realize I had babbled on like that. annnnnnnnnd.....I'm not the best at spelling, so please don't judge, haha :)

Have a great night! I'm anxious to see more before/afters....at least it proves that yard work IS rewarding!!

The before and after is quite amazing. How lovely.

It must be a reflection of where we live.. but I don't think I have ever found myself "pining for winter". :-)
